QEC Chair is 1 in 100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining

The leader of Queensland’s exploration industry membership organisation, the Queensland Exploration Council (QEC), has earned a spot on this year’s “100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining” (WIM 100) list.

Kim Wainwright, Chair of QEC is one of the successful nominees for this prestigious international accolade and will be included in the fifth edition of the WIM100 publication, which celebrates the significant contributions of leading women to the mining industry, across all roles, seniority and jurisdictions.

Kim Wainwright has been selected as one of the 100 inspirational women across the globe based on the following selection criteria:

1. Kim is a trailblazer: A WIM100 woman is a pioneer. She is an innovator. She makes positive and impactful changes so the industry can operate in a more sustainable, inclusive and safer way.

2. Kim advocates and empowers: A WIM100 woman offers proactive advocacy to those working in the mining industry and beyond. She empowers her colleagues to ensure everyone feels heard, welcomed and respected.

3. Kim perseveres in the face of adversity: A WIM100 woman is resilient and determined. She has the courage to speak up, challenge the status quo and break barriers.

A little bit about Kim and why she was selected for WIM100:

Kim is a business owner, Director and advocate for the exploration and mining industry. Kim is the CEO and founder of Xplore Resources – an exploration and professional services firm focused on working with businesses to develop exploration and mining projects both in Australia and overseas.

Kim has been Chair of the Queensland Exploration Council since 2019, where she is committed to working with the sector in promoting Queensland’s prospectivity across the globe.

In addition, she holds a number of Directorships including on the ASX, not for profit and private sector. Kim has strong community ties through charity work, including being on the Board of Prince Charles Hospital Foundation since 2018.

Kim has a passion for Queensland exploration and has worked tirelessly to promote the industry and support explorers on their pathway to production. Kim’s approach to exploration is innovative and creative, and she knows how to get the job done!
