Kickstarting on an inspiring note, Kim Wainwright, Chair of QEC, extended a warm welcome and launched the QEC’s latest initiative, the QE-Connect exploration promotion website. The Hon Scott Stewart MP, Minister for Resources, set the tone with his keynote address expanding on recent announcements such as the Critical Minerals Strategy. The morning session featured thought-provoking talks, including Tom Carmichael’s (Datarock) exploration of machine learning’s role, Rod Carlson’s (AMC Consultants) summary of recent JORC code updates, and Narelle Wolfe’s (AusIMM) insightful analysis of ESG trends.
Session 2: The Race for Critical Minerals
Under Kim Wainwright’s adept guidance, this session embarked on an exploration of the pivotal race for minerals driving industry growth. Visionaries like Rob Williamson (Alpha HPA), Jon Price (Richmond Vanadium Technology), and Tony Bainbridge (EQ Resources) delved into transformative conversations surrounding futuristic technologies and innovation for amplified critical mineral development. While the Chief Government Geologist Tony Knight’s presentation looked at the many opportunities and challenges for Queensland’s critical minerals industry.
ESG Panel Discussion: Excellence unveiled
Moderated by Chris Woodfull (SRK Consulting), this session assembled a remarkable panel comprising Maggie Sikora (Newcrest Mining), Narelle Wolfe, and Tony Bainbridge. They engaged in a pivotal discussion centered around the theme of Excellence in ESG.
Session 3: Sharing for Success
Led by Simon Troeth (Newcrest Mining), this session took a deep dive into sharing insights that pave the way for a prosperous future. The day’s culmination was graced by Stephen Kelemen, Deputy Chair of QEC, offering a heartfelt Vote of Thanks.
