The Queensland Resources Council (QRC) and the Queensland Exploration Council (QEC) are pleased to present the 2024 QEC Exploration Scorecard. This publication is an important barometer of industry sentiment for future resources sector projects.

This is the 14th edition of the Exploration Scorecard, and we have accumulated a data set that tracks the key issues of concern and areas of opportunity for the exploration sector over this time. It’s the largest data set of its kind in Queensland and provides the trends needed to inform long-term decision-making and policy settings to position Queensland as a resources growth state.

In May 2018, the QEC introduced a new event aimed at bringing members together and highlighting the next generation of exploration. The event theme was “reducing the cost profile of exploration through technology” and attendees heard from Dr Rob Hough presenting on the topic. Dr Hough is a geologist with over 20 years of experience in research with industry and a passionate advocate for innovation that can support industry to explore for our future mines. Dr Hough is the Research Program Director for Discovery in CSIRO Mineral Resources, based in Perth.

Thanks to the generous support of our corporate partner and event host Ernst & Young, the event proved popular with more than 90 attendees.
